2012 CrossFit Games - Spirit of The Games Winner: Deborah Cordner Carson (by CrossFitHQ)

Lymphedema- Lymphatic obstruction is a blockage of the lymph vessels that drain fluid from tissues throughout the body and allow immune cells to travel where they are needed. Lymphatic obstruction may cause lymphedema, which means swelling due to a blockage of the lymph passages.

Deborah Carson reminds me a lot of my girlfriend and how she battles through and lives with her lymphedema. I have massive respect for both women and the courage they show in overcoming their fears and pushing their bodies to their extremes.

The video below is of Elisabeth Akinwale doing the ‘grace’ workout. I’m going to give it a go and see how far I get. Looks MEAN!!

Elisabeth Akinwale is my new source of inspiration, period! This woman exudes so much strength and mental toughness that I’m getting psyched over the web having never even come close to meeting her or hearing about her before.
Elisabeth took part in the crossfit games in 2011 and on her 1st try ever placed 13th, being the 13th fittest woman in the world! The cross fit games for those that don’t know are a sort of olympic game-esque competition for fitness in a nutshell and anyone can take part all the way from 15-60 years old. The games are a fantastic way to bring people together to create a shared sense of community. Imagine thousands of people, cheering and willing you on to get through the last 50m on the spin bike in your gym. Times that by a thousand. That’s the type of atmosphere you’d get at the games and it’s one to enjoy being both spectator and participant.

The video below shows the type of workouts you would typically do to get in shape for the games.
